There's No Place Like Home

People say that home is where the heart is and I can totally relate to that. Don't get me wrong, I love going on holidays and staying staying with friends but there's nothing quite like coming home. I knew I would be heading to town last night and my lovely friend offered me a place to stay (instead of paying a huge taxi bill!) Thanks Kim! Although I had a fab time (I don't know how we didn't wake her housemate up) it was nice to walk through my own front door tonight. It helps that I'm greeted by two boys excited to see their momma.

My house is small but perfectly formed (not that i'm biased or anything) and filled with a a real eclectic mix of old and new. I like 'things' and fit quite a lot of stuff into this bijoux 2 bed, pretty sure i'm a bit of a horder!

Here are a few of my favourite things........

Lamp: Antique shop in Falmouth

Whale: vintage, Phone: Ebay, The Vintage Tea Party Book: Amazon

Clock: Ebay

Ducks: Rossiters

Chair: From My Grandparents, Owl: Gift

Clothes Rail: Ikea, Picture: Charity Shop

Butterflies: Spitalfields Market, London

Clock: Closing Down Sale (similar on Ebay)

Hope you like them as much as I do!

P.S. Here's a snippet of last night......

A dog pulling a cat in a cart in the snow....

Just a quick one as it's getting pretty late and have a long and exciting day tomorrow! Had a lovely impromptue evening with my lovely friend Kim tonight. I find the last minute friend "dates" are usually the best.

Our nights out usually involve food of some sort (I would say that eating is one of my favourite things to do.) Our biggest problem is often trying to decide where to stuff our faces! To be fair Cardiff has some pretty amazing restaurants and coffee shops these days. Some of my favs are Bills on the Hayes, you can't beat a bagel in New York Deli and I love a chilled hangover lunch *ahem breakfast* at Barkers.

I seriously love the way that place is styled, I usually spend the whole time wishing I lived there. Tonight we decided on a bit of American style over indulgence in the form of TGI Fridays (who doesn't love their Jack Daniels sauce?! I could literally drink it). I did refrain from an Oreo milkshake on this occasion but more than made up for it with a Starbucks drive through trip. Tonight left my face hurting from talking so much and my stomach aching from laughing so much I was nearly in tears. Nights like this can make your day!

Kim super excited for her food!

It was a specky 4 eyes kind of day.....

All dressed up with nowhere to go

So today was supposed to be date day. After speaking to a guy for a week we decided to meet up for coffee (his idea) and today was suposed to be the day. I thought I'd better make an effort and at least wash my hair for once (not sure today was a day for dry shampoo). After spending longer than usual perfecting my cat eye flicks, attempting to hide all my spots and putting on my new dress I get a text from him saying he had to cancel.

Now, I'm pretty new to this whole dating thing so wasn't sure what to wear. But here's what I decided on anyway........ let me know what you think......

Dress: River Island, Boots: Topshop (old)
 Necklace: Topshop

This River Island dress is not a normal buy for me. I've always been more of a jeans or shorts kinda girl but am slowly but surely getting in touch with my girly side. One of my new loves is teaming girly things with chunky boots and vampy lips. I've tended to stay away from dresses like this as they seem to cling to me in all the wrong places but this one was a pleasant surprise. After being convinced to try it on by my sister I didn't want to take it off! It's so easy to wear, I think I'll layer it next time with a black jumper and dark red lips.

Anyway, his loss was my gain. I spent a lovely afternoon with my sister and her other half in the cinema. How can you feel sorry for yourself when you're watching The Hobbit with 2 scoops of your favorite Ben and Jerry's?!

Who needs a man anyway?

80s reprzent!

So last weekend was one of pure indulgence and 30th birthdays in Bath..... almost ruined by the snow our Bath adventure began Saturday morning. My sister picked me up bright and early and we headed to the train station with the most beautiful snow topped trees as we headed to the city.

The rest of the girls got to our amazing apartment on the Friday and enjoyed at evening of alcohol and pass the parcel. Can't believe we missed it!

On arrival we headed straight to the Thermae Spa for four hours of pure relaxation. The outdoor rooftop pool was amazing. When the doors of the lift opened the steam of the cold air hitting the toasty warm water made it look like the end of the world.

A weekend wouldn't be perfect without a bit of shopping. I found the most amazing electric blue skirt in the sale for our 80s fancy dress themed meal that night!

You can't go wrong with a bit of fancy dress (can you?!)! We all took ages to get ready and love how we all had our own interpretation of the 80s.
